Hopefully Odessa learns to enjoy this.

Real life keeps getting in the way of comics! But I’m not going to stop anytime soon, just delay a little bit.
I’m thinking of posting (on my profile) sketches and illustrations for Desendi in order to at least keep some kind of content flow in case this stuttering keeps happening.

In any case, thanks for reading and watching me try my best to draw action! I’m starting to really really enjoy it. Focusing on making things feel kinetic instead of super clean makes drawing a lot more fun.

Please like, share, and/or comment! It really keeps me going. Thanks!

Taunting is an important part of any fight scene

This character’s name is Mankot. They’re a jerk and I like them.

So updates will either be Fridays or Saturdays depending on whether or not I forget to save my documents when I work on them on another machine haha

Still enjoying drawing this. We’re halfway through the first chapter! Oh no!

See you all next week, and thanks for reading!

Hahaha so two weeks of being out of town and really sick, and I’m back with one page instead of two this time. Starting my one-page a week cadence.

Fight scenes are hard!! But the challenge is really interesting to me, and I’m glad even though I struggle through it.

Thanks for reading! See you next week!

More fighting. Who knew rope was so useful?

Rope, great for making noses bleed!

Hey guys! So update schedule change here–I’m unfortunately going to be going from two pages a week to only one (every Monday!). The two page a week cadence would have been perfectly fine if it was all I was doing artistically with my time, but I have a couple of projects (art shows, games, etc) outside of Desendi that need some attention. Updating at this cadence will be pretty easy at least, so there won’t be long hiatuses anymore unless something happens. And it will also be much easier for me to have a good buffer!

That being said, once things become less hectic, I may go back to the two page cadence. But for now, we’ll get this to you once a week. Thanks so much for those of you who are still reading! I’m working on making the website look better and load faster too. Thirty pages is a hell of a benchmark.

i guess it counts as fighting

You gain some ground, you lose some ground. As far as Odessa’s concerned the score is still kind of even.

I know I’m working at a one page a week cadence right now. Working hard to get back to two a week @_@ Life is unfortunately very busy, but I promise to get at least one page out either on a Monday or a Friday.

I’m trying not to be concerned too much if the page isn’t as good as I want it to be, as long as the quality is still okay! And it is! I’m actually kind of proud of the energy in this page. Hope I keep it up with the rest of the action scenes, i’ve never done fighting in a fantasy comic before, so this is so far a fun learning experience.

this fantasy comic has turned into a lady action comic plus bulky dudes

And it starts. Odessa shows off a couple of her main skills – slipperiness and distressed expressions.

So saying that I would be back on schedule when the holidays came around and I knew I would be out of town was really stupid of me. NOW we will be back on schedule, haha.

Also, look! My first fully digital page for the comic. Generally happy with how it came out, though I get a lot more fiddly with the linework than I would if I were doing it traditionally. But I got it out. This year is focusing on getting this thing out, and then I will go back and clean up the things that I rushed to get done.

See you on Friday! If I don’t show up, please reprimand me. I trust you’ll do it. :S

This fantasy comic finally continues. Eesh.

Odessa is constantly underestimated by people. Here, Malab underestimates her ability to tie knots (probably that is what is happening here). Unfortunately, it looks like she’s been noticed.

Oh gosh, how long has it been since the last update? Apart from forever, which is not a good pace to do the first chapter of a comic. Unfortunately I have a mess of excuses, none of which cover the full breadth of time of me not updating, so I’m not even going to pretend I have a reasonable reason that this page didn’t go up the month ago it was supposed to go up. Let’s say the last quarter of the year is always messy and leave it at that.

NEW THINGS: I’m probably going to test working on this comic fully digitally for the next few pages, hoping to speed up my work time. I had previously set a goal to do the comic with traditionally inked linework, but there has to be a time for an artist to be realistic about time, and I had to try and weigh whether or not artistic goals were more important than storytelling ones. I’ll test run full digital for now, and if it’s faster then it’s probably what I’m going to do until I have time to get back to the dip pen. I’ve got short story comics that would probably be cool traditional anyway, so it’s not like I’ll be wasting the ink and paper.

Anyway, see you on Friday, people who still read! Cheers!

Odessa worries about getting started, but when she does she goes for it. Who knows how long she has before the Malawan people break out of their confused stupor and actually try and do something about this mysterious person hidden beneath the wagon?

A little late because of con-prep (still). Going to have to find time to put stuff together over this weekend between making displays and preparing merch, so I hope I can get page 27 up on Monday. But let’s be real, the real update schedule is Mondays-or-Tuesdays and Fridays-or-Saturdays. The holidays are always so busy, ignore also having a full time job.

But I’m still kicking!

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you all are still enjoying it.
