C1P24: Do Something!

After a few pages and a tense moment, Odessa finally gets noticed. Is our heroine finally coming back into the fray?

October has been an unbelievably busy month, and trying to keep up with making full colored comics twice a week, but I’m working on it! Come thirty pages of the comic, I’ll be working really hard to update the look of the site and my update assets to make it even prettier.

Let’s see if I can’t start posting some old sketches leading up to the comic.

I have so many sketches but they’re of characters that aren’t in the comic yet, so I’m excitedly holding off until Chapter 2. Arghhhh!! They’re my favorites though, and I’m excited to get there.

Malab brandishes a weapon for the first time and Maina seems to have finally lost her voice.

Desendi is chugging along! Halloween week (or Halloweek) was definitely busy so I didn’t have time to complete coloring–dealing with Maid of Honor-y stuff and celebrationy stuff is important, I guess. This week will be spent creating a buffer and hopefully allowing this comic to move at the pace I intended. A biweekly fantasy comic is not an easy one to regularly update with a full job and full color, but I’m determined to do it! Thanks to everyone who reads so far, and I hope you’re enjoying!

Fun stuff to come in these next few pages~!

C1P22: Don’t Talk, Don’t Talk

Malab’s playful patience doesn’t last very long, and Odessa struggles to work out a plan in her head while realizing the tension is reaching a point. But what are these legends about the mountain that the travelers don’t know about? Wonder if we’ll find out.

Mama really won't stop talking

Mama bears are tough, no nonsense types, but what do you do when two of them are going face to face?

Mama here (her real name is Maina, pronounced Mah-EE-nah, but it’s one of those little details that never makes it into the story, really) is based a lot on my Filipina aunties who don’t know how to not fight against injustice. Though maybe Maina should take a moment to weigh her chances here. What can you really do tied up against a woman with scars on her face?

She’s not very good at just being quiet. But a mother won’t let something like this slide, even though it’s obvious that every mountain person and carriage rider there wishes she would.

We’re about 1/3 of the way into Chapter One of this adventure comic, and even though I’ve had some slight updating gaffes (things have been very busy this october in things unrelated to this comic!), and there were website problems the first month of this comic, I’m proud to say that I’ve been updating this almost on schedule for the past two months. It’s a big thing for me to reach page twenty! Twenty is a lot of colored pages! I’m happy to add twenty more to this fantasy. Let’s keep drawing ladies.

I’m excited to keep going. Thanks everyone for reading!

And Odessa finally reappears.

I guess the idea of assaulting the Malawans didn’t turn out very well after all.

I know I keep saying that I’m really enjoying drawing this, but can I say it again? I like drawing an action adventure comic and coloring all the backgrounds and everything, even if it’s all quick. I’m glad I made the decision to do it in color–there was a lot of back and forth in my head whether or not this would be a black and white webcomic or not, but I’m glad with how I’m doing it.

This is still technically a Friday Update, right? Haha, it’s not Saturday yet!
